I humbly concede that I do not have it all figured out by any means, but I do appreciate an article that will look at research articles from both sides while holding to the premise that this is not a black and white issue.

But Wakefield’s deeply flawed paper is not the only study that has fueled the anti-vaccination movement. Led by celebrities such as Jenny McCarthy, the movement continues to vehemently oppose mainstream science’s overwhelming consensus that vaccines do not cause developmental disorders.
Some of these papers championed by the anti-vaccination camp have serious problems of their own. Others muddy the waters or hint at conspiratorial efforts by governmental health organizations and vaccine-profiteering pharmaceutical companies to hide the truth about autism’s genesis.
Here’s a look at several of the key studies that the anti-vaccination movement has either embraced or lambasted in furthering its perspective. These studies have already fueled the controversy and will likely remain at the epicenter of future clashes over vaccine safety

Hey,
I saw this new article from Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., about the main researching for the “vaccines are safe” side of the debate. He recently was found to have committed fraud and stole about $2 Million of taxpayers money he supposedly spent on vaccine research. It’s an interesting discovery regarding the issues of honesty for those behind the attack on the vaccine-autism link.

Ideally, I would love if vaccines were completely safe. Really. If they worked in reality as they do in theory, humans would be nearly invincible to pathogens, etc. However, it doesn’t seem to be that way. And sadly, the additional chemicals which are somewhat required for vaccines to ‘work’ do cause side-effects in the human body.

I think correlation does not prove causation.
I would agree that the embezzelment side of this is a huge mistake and not helpful. But I do think that this type of thing is in the minority as far as researching goes. There are just as many pro vaccine-autism people who have falsified records and embellished study results to make their argument look better.
So on the spectrum of vaccines, both the far left and far right have probably done things that are not ethical or even scientific. But I don’t think one can argue that because somebody did something unethical, the point of view they ascribe to must be wrong.
I would love it if vaccines were completely safe as well. I would love it if Tylenol and antibiotics were safe. I would love it if driving a car and getting married were safe. Is anything really safe?
So then next, I think one has to decide if the risks outweigh the benefits of vaccines. I think the benefits of not getting polio, measles, mumps, rubella, tetanus, hepatitis, ect far outweigh the risks. I think our generation is fairly naive to serious illness since we don’t really know anybody debilitated with polio…thanks to vaccines.
I don’t think the purpose of vaccines is to make us invicible, but hopefully to keep us from dying needlessly or at least suffering debilitating illnesses.
Most, if not all of the harmful additives have been removed from the vaccines over the last couple couple decades, so I’m less and less worried about that.
IF there ends up being some really good research done that proves a strong link between current vaccine use and autism or any other prolific side effects, than I might change my tune. But I can’t really find any top-tier, double blind, peer-reviewed scientific research that points to a link.
For every blog post and newspaper article out there that screams vaccine-autism causation, there are just as many if not more that scream no causation. Neither those for or against really mean anything, only hard scientific research should be evaluated.
